Lady Raiders remain unbeaten with straight-sets win
The Waynesburg Central girls volleyball team remained undefeated Monday night with a 3-0 non-section victory at Bethe-Center.
The Lady Raiders improved to 15-0 overall with sets wins of 25-20, 25-20 and 29-27.
Bailey Rafferty led the Waynesburg attack with 17 assists, eight digs and five kills. Ani Cree finished with 14 kills, seven digs and five aces. Lelia McCollum (9 digs), Mikaylynn Good (3 blocks), Railey Bochna (2 blocks), Emily Rafferty (11 kills), and Gina Tedrow (10 assists, 2 aces) also contributed to the win.
Girls soccer
Bentworth 13, California 0 – The Lady Bearcats returned home with a Section 2-A road victory.
Bentworth led 9-0 at halftime.
Brielle Dillon led Bentworth with five goals. Madelyn Johns scored a hat trick. Megan Keturakis and Bella Moyer scored two goals apiece. Lauren Jurovcik netted one goal.
Nita Anderson and Julia Brandau combined on the shutout.
Bentworth (9-1, 15-1) tied the program’s best regular season win total set in 2019.
Albert Gallatin 7, Brownsville 2 – Caileigh Theodore and Ava Haft both scored two goals in the Lady Colonials’ non-section home win.
Albert Gallatin’s Lacey Blair, Olivia Eicher and Isabella Dehaven scored one goal apiece.
Southmoreland 1, Belle Vernon 0 – Aubrey Seder scored the winning goal as the Lady Scots edged Belle Vernon for a non-section road victory.
Southmoreland’s Addyson Billheimer posted the shutout. Skyler Salay and Aurora Bastedo combined for eight saves for the Lady Leopards.
Belle Vernon closes the regular season with a 9-9-0 record and, along with Southmoreland (10-7), awaits WPIAL playoff pairings.
Boys soccer
Ringgold 2, Bethel Park 1 – The Rams rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit for a Section 2-AAA road victory.
Nico Bove converted Izaiah Wilson’s pass into the match-tying goal with 21 minutes left in the half.
Wilson then scored the game-winning eight minutes later off a Nick Evans pass.
West Mifflin 2, Uniontown 1 – The Titans edged Uniontown for a Section 3-AAA road victory.
Jason Martin and Bryson Kincaid scored one goal each for West Mifflin (3-7, 3-11). The Red Raiders close with an 0-10 section record and 2-13 overall mark.
