Lady Commodores receive No. 1 seed in volleyball playoffs

Frazier received the No. 1 seed in Class A when the WPIAL volleyball playoffs begin on Monday.
The Lady Commodores, Section 4-A champions with an overall record of 12-3, host Rochester (7-10) in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Carmichaels (12-6) finished as the undefeated Section 3-A champions under first-year coach Cam Coffey. The Lady Mikes host California (7-5) on Tuesday.
Beth-Center (12-4) travels to Serra Catholic (11-5) and West Greene (7-6) plays at Greensburg C.C. (13-3) in other Class A first-round matches.
Brownsville (8-11) qualified for the district playoffs by defeating Burgettstown Thursday night in the final Section 3-AA match of the season. The Lady Falcons play a Class AA preliminary round match on Monday at Seton-La Salle (13-7).
Bentworth (8-11) goes to McGuffey (11-5) and Yough (11-8) hosts Ligonier Valley (9-8) in other Class AA preliminary round matches on Monday.
Southmoreland and undefeated Waynesburg Central will host Class AA first-round matches on Wednesday. The Lady Scots (14-3) entertain the winner of the Brownsville-Seton-La Salle prelim, while the Lady Raiders (17-0) host the Avonworth-Mohawk winner.
The Albert Gallatin girls (8-8) play a Class AAA preliminary round match at Derry (7-8) on Monday with the winner traveling to second-seeded Mars (14-4) on Wednesday for a first-round match.
Laurel Highlands (12-5) opens the Class AAA playoffs on Wednesday at third-seeded Chartiers Valley (15-2). Ringgold (13-4) is on the road at Freeport (10-3).
North Allegheny (14-1) is the top seed in Class AAAA. Quaker Valley (14-2) received the No. 1 seed in Class AA. Beaver (15-3) is the No. 1 seed in Class AAA.
