Local roundup: Lady Falcons outslug Bethel Park, 18-7

Molly Greenawalt had four of Connellsville’s 22 hits and nine different players knocked in a run for the Lady Falcons in an 18-7, six-inning Section 4-5A softball victory at Bethel Park Monday afternoon.

Cali Leichliter and Rylee Dreves both had three hits and two RBIs, and Maggie Orndorff added three hits and one RBI for Connellsville (3-2, 7-2) which also got two hits and two RBIs from Addison Lloyd and winning pitcher Kendal King.

Kalyn Cole and Kaylee Roadman each contributed two hits and an RBI for the Lady Falcons, who got a triple from Dreves and one double apiece from Greenawalt, Ordnorff, Cole and Elizabeth Painter.

Sia Spano had four hits, including a double, and two RBIs and Courtney Roberts hit a two-run homer and a single for the Lady Black Hawks (4-4, 8-4) who took a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Nina DePasquale doubled, singled twice and had two RBIs for Bethel Park.

Connellsville tied it with a four-run third inning, then added a run in the top of the fourth and six in the fifth to take an 11-4 lead.

Belle Vernon 14, Ringgold 3 – Katie Sokol had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs in the Lady Leopards’ Section 2-4A victory over the visiting Lady Rams.

Kaylee Sypolt knocked in three runs with a double and a single, Lauren VanDivner had two hits and two RBIs and Belle Williams had three hits for Belle Vernon (4-4, 6-8) which also got a double and two RBIs from Mia Zubovic.

Winning pitcher Maddie Grisnik, Mailey Hayes and Sydney Callaway each had a single and an RBI for the Lady Falcons.

Addy Allen had two hits and Alice Ramous had a single and two RBIs for Ringgold (0-6, 0-12).

Peters Township 11, Albert Gallatin 6 – Avery Carson doubled twice and Nina Logero doubled and singled as the Lady Indians (1-7, 3-9) topped the host Lady Colonials in a Section 4-5A game.

Winning pitcher Laney Mountain allowed three earned runs with no walks and three strikeouts.

Jenna Myers and Hannah Dunham both had a double, single and a run scored for Albert Gallatin (0-6, 2-7) and Jenna Chapman was 2 for 2 with two runs.

Waynesburg Central 3, Bentworth 1 – Gina Tedrow fired a three-hitter with 19 strikeouts as the Lady Raiders triumphed over the host Lady Bearcats in a Section 4-2A win.

Tedrow, who walked five, got out of a two-on, one-out jam in the sixth inning with consecutive strikeouts as Waynesburg improved to 3-1 in the section and 6-4 overall.

Avery Davis, Bre Kerr and Kalee Piper each had a single and an RBI for the Lady Raiders who took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning and tacked on an insurance run in the seventh.

Bentworth’s only hits were singles by Sofia Guassa, Hailey Tatar and Kyleigh Glaze. Kayla O’Dell scored the lone run for the Lady Bearcats (2-3, 5-6) on a wild pitch in the fifth inning.

Losing pitcher Willow Eckels allowed one earned run on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
