Connellsville avenged a loss from earlier in the season to edge Trinity, 5-3, on Friday night in Section 4-5A play at Trinity Middle School’s softball facility.

The Lady Falcons (6-3, 10-9) avenged a 7-6 setback that occurred on April 9 against the Lady Hillers (7-3, 9-7). Connellsville had a 6-2 lead after the fifth inning, but Trinity scored three in the sixth and two in the seventh to rally for the win.

The Lady Falcons turned the tables on the home team Friday evening by scoring four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh for the triumph.

The Lady Hillers had a 2-0 lead entering the sixth, but Kaylee Roadman hit a bases-clearing double to right field that scored Molly Greenwalt, Cali Leichliter and Kalyn Cole for a 3-2 advantage.

Leichliter walked to lead off the inning before Cole was put on base intentionally and Greenwalt reached safely on a fielder’s choice to load the bases with one out.

Roadman scored when Rylee Dreves reached on an error for a 4-2 lead. Roadman had two hits.

Trinity cut the deficit to one with a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Leichliter hit a solo home run to left field in the seventh.

The Lady Hillers had runners at first and second with one out in the bottom of the frame, but Kendal King forced a groundout to second base and a pop-up to shortstop to end the threat, inning and game.

King allowed three earned runs on 10 hits over seven innings. She had three strikeouts and walked two.

Trinity’s Hanna Suhoski doubled and teammate Ally Krenzelak had two triples.

Waynesburg Central 8, California 0 — Gina Tedrow pitched a three-hit shutout in a Section 4-2A win for the Lady Raiders over the Lady Trojans.

Aidan Snider doubled for the Lady Raiders.

California’s Madyson Morton tripled.
