Local roundup: Waynesburg boys track team picks up 3 wins

Host Waynesburg Central picked up three victories in a Section 6-2A four-team boys track and field meet Tuesday.

The Raiders defeated Monessen (136-12), Brownsville (101-47) and Bentworth (123.33-25.66). The Falcons picked up wins over the Greyhounds (92-19) and the Bearcats (67-54), and Bentworth defeated Monessen (93.66-21.33).

Double individual winners for the Raiders were Zack Andrews (110 high hurdles/:17.70, 300 hurdles/:43.45), Alex Eck (400/:55.95, triple jump 37-5), Will Maxwell (1,600/5:30.37, 3,200/11:36.04) and Duncan Barto (shot put/38-7, javelin 131-8).

Other individual winners for Waynesburg were Jackson Brunell (pole vault/12-0), Caden Fowler (discus/131-10) and Jack Ricciuti (high jump/5-10). The Raiders also won the 3,200 relay (Maxwell, Braden Walawander, Nate Fox, Mylo Snyder) in 14:14.50.

Camden Wellington (100/:11.71, 200/:23.75) was a double-winner for Brownsville. The Falcons’ Levi Grojan won the long jump (20-8).

Brownsville also won the 400 relay (Maxime Dieudonne, Grogan, Meyonate Jordan, Neovae Jordan) in :45.33 and the 1,600 relay (Wellington, Neovae Jordan, Sila Patterson, Cameron Phillips) in 3:51.14.

Bentworth’s Aiden McMurray won the 800 (2:28.01).

California 89, Beth-Center 55; California 91, Charleroi 47; California 89, West Greene 19; Beth-Center 95, Charleroi 68; Beth-Center 114, West Greene 13; Charleroi 89, West Greene 19 – The host Trojans secured three wins in a Section 6-2A meet with the Bulldogs going 2-1.

The Cougars’ Braedin Lunger was a triple-winner, taking first in the 110 high hurdles (:15.67), the 300 hurdles (43.07) and the high jump (6-2).

Multiple individual winners for California were Lee Qualk (100/:11.31, long jump/21.9), Christian Ross (pole vault/8-0, triple jump/38.6) and Matthew Miller (shot put/34.6, discus/108.0)

The Trojans also got first-place outings from Alan Dennis (200/:24.17), Carter Kent (800/2:09.38), Niamh McClaflin (1,600/4:53.23) and Andrew Typovsky (javelin/135-3).

Other individual winners were Charleroi’s Jamael Payne (400/:56.40) and Beth-Center’s Brandon Remington (3,200/12:11.04).

Relay winners were Beth-Center in the 1,600 (4:06.18) and 3,200 (10:06.26) and California in the 400 (:45.08).

Connellsville 76, Belle Vernon 65; Connellsville 79, Albert Gallatin 62; Belle Vernon 82, Albert Gallatin 59 – The Falcons went 2-0 in the Section 2-3A meet at Albert Gallatin.

Ryan Kent swept all three throwing events, winning the shot put (46-7), discus (145-7) and javelin (151-7), for the Leopards who went 1-1.

Chase Mertz (100/:12.00, long jump/19-11) won two events for Belle Vernon which also got a victory from Javier Boyce (200/:25.50),

Connellsville had a pair of double-winners in Jake Pritts (800/2:17.24, 1,600/4:51.03) and Derek Routzahn (110 high hurdles/:17.91, 300 hurdles/:45.00) and also got a first-place finish from Jonah Lindstrom (3,200/10:36.59).

Individual winners for the Colonials were Matt Goborko (400/:56.05), Mekhi Belt (high jump/5-4) and Caleb DeHaven (triple jump/39-0).

In the relays, Albert Gallatin was first in the 400 (:47.36), Connellsville was first in the 1,600 (3:52.89) and Belle Vernon was first 3,200 (9:24.56).

Girls track and field

Brownsville 84.5, Waynesburg Central 60.5; Brownsville 118, Monessen 7; Brownsville 76, Bentworth 59; Waynesburg Central 129, Monessen 9; Waynesburg Central 82, Bentworth 67; Bentworth 96, Monessen 29 – Brownsville earned a trio of victories in a Section 6-2A meet at Waynesburg with the host squad going 2-1.

The Lady Falcons got two individual first-place finishes from Aijanae Foster (100 high hurdles/:17.21, high jump/5-0) and Alexa Lewandowsky (shot put/27-6, discus/99-8).

Other individual winners for Brownsville were Jersey Feick-White (100/:13.54), Amya Wilson (400/1:11.57) and Ta’Veonna Harris (200/:29.22). The Lady Falcons also were victorious in the 400 relay (Feick-White, Harris, Wilson, Foster) with a time of :52.52.

Railey Bochna (long jump/15-9.5, triple jump/32-10) was a double-winner for the Lady Raiders and Madison Blair took first in the pole vault (7-0). Waynesburg also won the 1,600 relay (Leah Ayers, Lelia McCollum, Bella Haas, Ani Cree) with a time of 5:37.46.

The Lady Bearcats had one double individual winner in Jesse Laskey (1,600/6:13.75, 800/2:51.42). Bentworth also got first-place performances from Megan Keturakis (300 hurdles/:57.07), Delilah Luketich (3,200/16:10.48) and Elizabeth Wade (javelin/92-0).

Bentworth took first in the 3,200 relay (Laskey, Madelyn Johns, Riley Nicholls, Brielle Dillon) with a time of 11:57.92.

California 89, Beth-Center 55; California 97, Charleroi 36; California 84, West Greene 35; Beth-Center 74, Charleroi 62; Beth-Center 76, West Greene 39 – The Lady Trojans collected three wins in the Section 6-2A meet and the Lady Bulldogs won two of three.

Earning two individual wins for California were Morgan Ross (100/:13.63, long jump/15-9) and Ella Neil (high jump/5-3, triple jump/33-2).

Also turning in first-place performances for the Lady Trojans were Lauren Hartley (800/2:53.37), Lucia Meiss (3,200/16:07.82) and Peyton Sunderman (discus/62-2 ½).

The Lady Pioneers had a pair of athletes with two individual victories in Eryka Hackney (200/:24.48, 400/1:07.04) and Pieper Whipkey (shot put/25-2, javelin/73-5).

Eden Smith (100 high hurdles/:17.99, 300 hurdles/:53.23) was a double-winner for the Lady Cougars, who also got a first-place effort from Lauren Leonetti (pole vault/9-6).

Beth-Center’s Jaslyn Debnar won the 1,600 (6:56.40).

Relay winners were Beth-Center in the 1,600 (NA) and 3,200 (12:44.43) and California in the 400 (:54.52).

Belle Vernon 71, Connellsville 70; Belle Vernon 105, Albert Gallatin 34; Connellsville 111, Albert Gallatin 29 – The Lady Leopards edged Connellsville by one point to go 2-0 in the Section 2-3A meet at Albert Gallatin.

Belle Vernon freshman Brooklyn Steeber won two individual events (1,600/5:46.30, 3,200/12:27.48). Other individual winners for the Lady Leopards were Courtney Martin (300 hurdles/54-73), Mia Roebuck (high jump/4-4) and Eternal Joy Johnson (long jump/14-6).

Individual winners for the Lady Falcons were Zoey Thomas (400/1:07.83), Trinity Moore (800/2:43.45), Sophia Morrison (100 high hurdles/:17.28), Hannah Jones (triple jump/29-0), Jayli Mackey (discus/91-6 ½), Allison Painter (98-10) and Madelynn Johnson (shot put/27-0).

The Lady Colonials claimed first place in two individual events, both by freshman Madison Rockwell in the sprints (100/:14.35, 200/:29.54).

Belle Vernon swept the relays with winning times of :54.29 in the 400, 4:56.79 in the 1,600 and 11:34.58 in the 3,200.
