J-M’s Ellsworth continues no-hit streak
Brayden Ellsworth didn’t allow a hit for the second consecutive start as the Rockets rolled past the host Maples, 17-0, in a three-inning Section 1-A baseball game on Monday.
Ellsworth threw a seven-inning no-hitter in a 6-1 win over West Greene on April 14.
John Woodward drove in three runs with a pair of doubles, Jaymison Robinson had two doubles and two RBIS and Evan Kniha knocked in four runs with two hits for Jefferson-Morgan (5-4, 6-7), which also got a double, single and two RBIs from Ellsworth, three hits and an RBI from Dayten Marion and two hits and an RBI from Drew Adams.
Ellsworth walked one and struck out six.
ELIZABETH FORWARD 2, ALBERT GALLATIN 1 – JB Crovak doubled, singled and was the winning pitcher as the Warriors fended off an upset bid by the host Colonials.
Elizabeth Forward scored both of its runs in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Jacob Peterson and an RBI single by Nate Grimm.
Crovak pitched four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Luke Ruskay gave up one run on two hits with two walks and four strikeouts in three innings to earn the save.
Kanyon Sutton, who had two hits, drove in the only run for AG (0-9, 1-10) with a single in the fifth inning. Evan Weakland also had two hits for the Colonials.
Tough-luck losing pitcher Kaiden Brady gave up eight hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in tossing a complete game.
MOUNT PLEASANT 22, SOUTHMORELAND 0 – Ian Shipley smashed a grand slam and Bobby Smithnosky homered and knocked in four runs as the Vikings steamrolled the Scotties in a three-inning Section 3-3A game.
Painter Quinn doubled and also drove in four runs and Sonny Marne doubled and had three RBIs for Mount Pleasant (6-3, 9-5).
Winning pitcher Jordan Grieff gave up one hit with no walks and four strikeouts.
Peyton Bann’s double was the only hit for Southmoreland (0-7, 1-12).
BALDWIN 5, CONNELLSVILLE 0 – Winning pitcher Gavin Stock threw five scoreless innings as the Highlanders (6-1, 10-2) beat the Falcons (2-5, 6-8) in a Section 4-5A game.
RINGGOLD 10, UNIONTOWN 0 – Winning pitcher Anthony Koziel threw five scoreless innings as the Rams beat the Red Raiders in a Section 2-4A game.
Shane Kelly had two hits, including a double, for Uniontown (2-5, 5-7).
WEST MIFFLIN 7, LAUREL HIGHLANDS 5 – Nate Fleming had a double and three RBIs as the first-place Titans (7-0, 11-2) defeated the Mustangs (2-5, 3-8) in a Section 2-4A game.
Braylon Schoch had a double and two RBIs for LH.

BROWNSVILLE 9, CALIFORNIA 0 – Ava Clark fired a one-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts and stroked a double as the Lady Falcons topped the visiting Lady Trojans in a Section 4-2A game.
Blair Long tripled and singled, Lena Rechichar doubled and singled and Jordyn Davis blasted a home run for Brownsville (5-3, 7-4), which also got doubles from Tavan Ternitsky and Zaydee Downer.
Mia Klein’s double was the only hit for California (0-9, 0-12).
WEST GREENE 10, JEFFERSON-MORGAN 1 – Josie Mason and Katie Brudnock both had two hits and two RBIs as the Lady Pioneers earned a key Section 2-A victory at Jefferson-Morgan.
The win moved West Greene (7-2, 10-4) into a second-place tie with J-M.
Sammi Zimmerman and winning pitcher Caitlin Whyte each had a single and two RBIs for the Lady Pioneers, who also got a hit and an RBI from Madelyn Roberts, and an RBI from Rylee Yeager.
Whyte allowed three hits and seven walks with four strikeouts.
Addyson Teagarden singled and knocked in the only run for the Lady Rockets (7-2, 10-3).
BALDWIN 17, ALBERT GALLATIN 2 – Camryn Temme went 4 for 4 with two home runs and seven RBIs and Reese Temme also homered as the first-place Lady Highlanders (10-0, 12-1) beat the Lady Colonials (0-12, 0-13) in a Section 4-5A game.
Jenna Myerss was 3 for 3 and Ellie Seese had two hits for AG.
