Copperheads roll past Charleroi, 19-0

Noah Mildren went 4 for 4 with a home run and six RBIS and Alex Vansickle homered, doubled, singled and knocked in four runs as Carmichaels blasted host Charleroi, 19-0, in Fayette County Baseball League action on Wednesday.

The Copperheads scored twice in both the first and second inning, added four in the fifth and one in the sixth before racking up 10 runs in the top of the seventh.

Dom Colarusso had two hits and three RBIs for Carmichaels.

Winning pitcher Matt Bamford tossed a four-hit shutout with one walk and 13 strikeouts.

Spencer Behrendt had two of the Magicians’ four hits. Ashton Ray took the loss.

The Copperheads were coming off a 12-2 win at Mill Run on Tuesday when they pounded out 18 hits.

Luke Camden was 4 for 4, including a two-run homer and a double, and drove in five runs for Carmichaels. Ben Shields had three hits, including a double, Jordan Mosley also had three hits, and Robbie Wilson-Jones added two hits for the Copperheads, who also got doubles from Noah Mildren and AJ Vanata.

Winning pitcher Ethan Erhard gave up two runs on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts in five innings.

Kace Shearer doubled for Mill Run.

FAYETTE AMERICAN LEGION

UNIONTOWN 7, BROWNSVILLE 3 — Nick Crouch had a double and two RBIs, winning pitcher Noah Lion added a double and an RBI and Nick Fleszar also doubled as Uniontown ran its winning streak to seven with a win at Brownsville.

Lion gave up one run on two hits with one walk and three strikeouts in four innings. Noah Zawislan allowed two runs in three innings.

Aidan Napolillo had three hits for Brownsville which also got a double and a single and two RBIs from Johnathan Vasbinder. Jeremiah McDonald took the loss.

THOMAS JEFFERSON 11, CHARLEROI 4 — Nico Knight homered, Hunter Horne and Tyler Mitrisin had two hits apiece and Jack Hynes and Easton Noderer each doubled as Thomas Jefferson knocked off visiting Charleroi.

Jaxson Klinger had two hits, including a double, and an RBI for Charleroi, which also got a double and an RBI from Layne Gerba.

BELLE VERNON 9, CHARLEROI 4 — Nate Grimm had two hits, including a double, drove in a run and was the winning pitcher as Belle Vernon rallied to beat visiting Charleroi on Tuesday.

Grimm allowed one run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts in three innings of relief.

Starting pitcher Cole Matusik gave up two earned runs on three hits with a walk and four strikeouts in four innings, and added a run-scoring triple for Belle Vernon.

Chase Petrosky had two hits for Belle Vernon.

Charleroi took a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning thanks to a two-run double by Jaxson Klinger and an RBI single by Tristyn Woods.

Brendon Geho’s run-scoring single in the fifth pulled Belle Vernon within one.

The hosts combined singles by Petrosky, Jesse Sobczak and Grimm with three walks, a sacrifice bunt and an error to score seven runs in the sixth for a 9-3 advantage and held on from there.
