JEFFERSON — If you were using baseball terminology, then Deakyn DeHoet hit for the cycle.

The senior-do-everything player for Jefferson-Morgan scored five touchdowns — three rushing, one receiving and one on a kickoff return — and added two 2-point conversion runs and threw one pass for a two-point conversion in FridayĢƵ 57-30 victory over Waynesburg Central at Parker Field in non-conference play.

The defending Tri-County South Conference improved to 2-0 this season. The Rockets downed Chartiers-Houston, 42-7, in Week Zero. J-M is at Burgettstown (1-0) next week before opening TCS play at Mapletown (1-1) on Sept. 12.

DeHoet was aware of his performance, and wanted to focus on his teammates being prepared for the game against a Greene County rival.

“This was definitely the best all-around game I had,” DeHoet said. “I just showed up and made sure everybody was ready to play. On the kickoff return, I was just patient and waited for the opening.”

DeHoetĢƵ performance — 167 yards on nine carries — put a smile on the face of J-M head coach Shane Ziats.

“HeĢƵ a game changer,” Ziats said. “We just give him the ball and he does his thing. HeĢƵ improved each year, just gotten better. From last year to this year, heĢƵ gotten better.”

John Woodward ran for a two-yard touchdown and returned a kickoff

55 yards for a score. He finished with 97 yards on seven carries.

The first half was an up-and-down circus with eight scores and 45 points. Jefferson-Morgan held a 28-17 lead, thanks to two long returns. The first was DeHoetĢƵ, who returned a Waynesburg kickoff 85 yards for a score.

“Our gameplan against him (DeHoet) was to tackle him,” said Waynesburg head coach Joe Kuhns after his team fell to 1-1. “HeĢƵ a special player. They did a good job sealing us off. Once heĢƵ in space, well, thatĢƵ it”

WoodwardĢƵ return for a touchdown with 7:12 remaining in the second quarter gave Jefferson-Morgan an 11-point lead that it took into halftime.

WoodwardĢƵ touchdown run opened the scoring with 5:32 left in the first quarter on the Rockets’ first drive. Logan Yeck made the first of three PATs.

Teagan Crouse matched the score with a one-yard run to tie the score at 7-7 after Nate Ricciuti made his first of three extra points.

Following DeHoetĢƵ touchdown return, Ricciuti connected on a 25-yard field goal.

DeHoet and quarterback Triton Farabee connected for a 30-yard touchdown pass at 10:48 of the second quarter to extend the home teamĢƵ lead to 22-10.

Roan Tustin scored on a one-yard run with 7:50 left before halftime to pull The Raiders within five.

DeHoetĢƵ touchdown runs of 17, 66 and 50 yards all came in the third quarter. Farabee ran for a 13-yard score in the fourth.

Crouse (two yards) and teammate Ross Tennant (five yards) scored on touchdown runs in the second half.
