Commodores down Cougars for section victory
Eli Cernuska and Mason Ritz each shot a 39 to share medalist honors in Frazier’s 226-234 victory over Yough on Monday in boys Section 8-2A golf play at Linden Hall Golf Course.
John Sinchar had a 45 and Nash Fouch carded a 46 for the Commodores (2-1, 2-2). Gavin Seich’s 57 closed the scoring for the home team.
The Cougars’ Anthony Bonari and Morgan Calderone fired 41s. Teammate Dallas Swank shot 43 and Ian Toman 50. Seth Pawlik’s 59 rounded out the scoring for Yough’s top five.
Ringgold 237, Uniontown 240 — Evan Anderson and Trevor Benson put the Rams in a good spot as their second and third starters in a Section 2-3A match at Uniontown Country Club.
Anderson, who started second, shot a 41 for the low-score between both teams. Benson carded a 42 from the third spot. Ringgold’s Evan Callaway, who started at No. 1, fired a 43.
Uniontown’s Chandler Myers, who started sixth, had a 43 to lead the Red Raiders. Isaac Ellsworth and Liam Glover shot 48s, and JJ Stewart came in at 49. Jason Vansickle scored a 52 for the home team.
Cole Komonich (55) and Dylan Bartkus (56) closed the scoring for the Rams.
Mount Pleasant 206, Connellsville 228 — The Vikings’ Darren Kinneer earned medalist honors with a 39 to help lead his team to a non-section victory at Pleasant Valley Golf Club.
Freshman Hunter Snyder shot a 40, while Tanner Frye and Nico Pisula each carded a 42. Austyn Gross fired a 43.
Mount Pleasant improved to 3-1 overall. The Vikings had a 2-1 mark in Section 2-2A action.
The Falcons were led in scoring by Toby Soltis, who shot a 43. Nicky Farrell and Mike Roscart each carded a 45. Hunter Konieczny (47) and Wade Bryner (48) closed the scoring for the home team.
Girls golf
Connellsville 253, Gateway 270 — The Lady Falcons earned a road victory at Murrysville Golf Course in Section 3-3A play.
Connellsville’s Addie Richter had the low-round with a 56. Teammate Isabella Nussbauer came in next with a 60.
The Lady Falcons’ Layla Rupp carded a 68 and Maddie Bigam finished at 69 to help Connellsville to its first win this season.
Kayden Hill-Lee shot 61 to lead the Lady Gators. Nyah Pollard had a 65, and Emily DeFelice and Taylor Roberts each carded 72s.
Girls tennis
Mount Pleasant 4, Gateway 1 — The Lady Vikings swept doubles action in a non-section victory on Tuesday at Mount Pleasant Area Junior/Senior High School.
Danica Trainer and Megan Bullock teamed up for the victory in the first doubles match before Hannah Shawley and Kendra Brunson won for the sweep.
Mount Pleasant took two-out-of-three in singles competition with Ryleigh Drzal and Autumn Jurkovic-Kuzma winning.
