UniontownÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Foster wins four events in non-section meet

Uniontown senior Hannah Foster won two individual and two relay events, including the 100-yard breaststroke in a WPIAL-qualifying time of 1:12.57, but Connellsville defeated the Lady Red Raiders, 82-79, in a non-section meet on Thursday at Uniontown Area High School.

In boys action, the Red Raiders downed the Falcons, 97-65.

Foster topped the field by over 13 seconds in the 100 breaststroke, which also bested the WPIAL Class 2A cut of 1:15. She also won the 50 freestyle in 27.48.

Foster swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay that earned a victory in 2:06.20. Joss Rutter, Addison Caruso and Abigail Horner rounded out the quartet. Foster swam the anchor leg of the 200 freestyle relay that won in 2:00. Horner, Eleanor Carei and Shelbie Covert were part of the victorious team.

Rutter won the 100 freestyle (1:01.05) and 100 backstroke (1:06.86). Covert topped the field in the 200 freestyle (2:22.50) and 500 freestyle (6:28.38). Caruso won the 200 individual medley in 2:31.68.

Carei won the diving competition with a 6.00 degree of difficulty.

The Lady Falcons’ Kallee Maloy won the 100 butterfly in 1:08.38. She was joined by Kassidy Callahan, Lucille Hunt and Bella Petrone to touch the wall first in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Red Raiders’ Chase King won the 200 and 400 freestyle, and was on the winning 200 freestyle relay to help lead the home team to victory.

King won the 200 in 2:01.25 and the 500 in 5:31.69. He anchored the 200 freestyle relay to a finish of 1:47.47. Cameron and Carson Soltis and Ivan Rutter swam the first three legs. Rutter won the 100 butterfly in 1:04.81.

Uniontown’s Donte Rugola won the 50 and 100 freestyle races in 24.75 and 53.90. Rugola teamed with Rutter, Logan Davis and Patrick Foster to top the field in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:54.94. Foster won the 200 individual medley in 2:24.85. Davis earned a victory in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.83.

The Red Raiders’ Kavon Novak won the diving with a degree of difficulty of 6.00.

The Falcons’ Dalton Shoemaker helped his team to a sweep in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:17.14. Shoemaker swam the anchor leg of the winning 400 relay team with Corbin Hoffer, Cory Stanton and Ian Elstner in 3:46.98.

Uniontown is off from competition over the Christmas break before it returns to action on Jan. 5 at Greensburg Salem. The non-section meet is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Connellsville hosts Kiski Area on Jan. 2 in Section 1-3A action at 6 p.m.
