Vecchiolla drives in 4 as Carmichaels earns shutout

Andino Vecchiolla drove in four runs as Carmichaels blanked Mill Run, 12-0, on Wednesday in Fayette County Baseball League (FCBL) play at Wharton Township Recreational Park in Farmington.

The Copperheads (8-1) scored eight runs in the first inning and Gavin Pratt pitched a two-hit shutout over five innings. The game ended following the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule. Pratt had eight strikeouts and walked two in earning the win on the mound.

Vecchiolla was 2 for 3 and scored one run. The Laurel Highlands graduate knocked in three runs on a triple in the top of the fifth frame to increase the visitors lead to 12-0. He drove in former Mustang teammate Santino Marra with a single to right field in the top of the first inning to score the game’s first run. Marra had doubled in the previous at-bat.

Dom Obiecunas doubled and scored when Gianni Cantini walked with the bases loaded. Pratt drove in two runs with a single to left field and Alex VanSickle knocked in two with a triple to right field in the first frame. The recent Waynesburg Central graduate had two hits. Pratt finished with three RBIs.

Kace Shearer and Luke Warrick each had a single for the Millers (1-5).
