Cougars fire season-best round in non-section win
Charleroi fired a season-best score Wednesday for a 195-225 victory over visiting Jefferson-Morgan in a non-section match at Mon Valley Country Club.
Levi Large had medalist honors for the Cougars (4-1) with 1-over 37. Gage Patterson, Jake Corrin and Jackson Keranko all shot 39. Kaden Woods’ 41 closed out the scoring. Josh Chambers’ 43 was not used.
Urijah Teasdale was the low man for the Rockets (3-3) with 2-over 38. Brayden Ellsworth finished with 49, Clay Wilson carded 43, and Brendan Wood shot 44. Dayten Marion and Jack Shaffer both shot 51.
Burgettstown 221, Bentworth 227 — Burgettstown held a slight advantage after the first group finished, and the Blue Devils held on to the slim lead for a non-section road victory over Bentworth at Chippewa Golf Course.
Ross Skerbetz was the low man for the Bearcats (0-6) with 43. Blake Reed shot 45. Trent Wolpink and Sam Wade both finished with 46. Craig McDonald closed out the scoring with 47.
Matt Bredel led Burgettstown (1-4) with 41.
Girls tennis
Mount Pleasant 5, McGuffey 0 – The Lady Vikings swept to a non-section home victory over visiting McGuffey.
Bella Fullman (10-0), Ryleigh Drzal (10-0), and Ella Alakson (10-2) dropped just two combined games in the pro set format.
Dani Trainer and Kiersten O’Conner won their No. 1 doubles match, 10-1. Chloe Zelmore and Hannah Shawley completed the shutout with a 10-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Girls golf
Franklin Regional 201, Connellsville 246 – The visiting Lady Falcons had a rough round Murrysville Golf Club, returning home with a Section 3-AAA loss to the Lady Panthers.
Katie Atz was the low golfer for Connellsville (1-4, 1-5) with 51. Rylee Leasher shot 59. Abigail Humbert finished with 66, and Isabella Nussbaumer closed the scoring with 70.
Mia Snyder (45), Athena Neuschwander (46), and Carly Tragresser (49) all broke 50 for Franklin Regional. Kara Petrazzi’s 67 closed the scoring.
Ligonier Valley 218, Mount Pleasant 220 – Ligonier Valley was solid at home on Ligonier Country Club for a Section 1-AA victory over the visiting Lady Vikings.
Morgan Miller shared medalist honors for Mount Pleasant (3-1, 3-1) with 49. Brynlee Baluh (61), Kaylie Korpiel (53), and Victoria Tepper (57) closed out the scoring. Ally Christner’s 62 was not used.
Addy Witcoski had a co-medalist round of 49 for Ligonier Valley (3-0, 4-0). Ana Charlebois (54), Maggie Markosky (63), and Sierra Nichols (52) also counted in the final score.
